“And again he entered
into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no
room to receive them no not so much as about the door: and he preached
the word unto them. And they come unto him, bring one sick of the palsy,
which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for
the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken
it up, they let down the bed of wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, son thy
sins be forgiven thee.
…I say unto thee, arise and take up thy bed, and go thy way into
thine house. And immediately he arose and took up the bed, and went forth
before them all.
Mark 2:1-5, 11-12.
This sick man was carried by four men. The number 4 is significant. 4
stand for stability.
In Zechariah 1:18-21 we find in his vision 4 horns which scattered the
nations of Judah and Israel and also came 4 carpenters which were sent
to undo the work of the 4 horns.
The sick man in our text had 4 men who carried him, defying all odds,
to the feet of Jesus.
It was a risk lowering the man from the roof the way they did but this
shows how desperate they were to reach Jesus.
God spoke to me from thi9s scripture. He said that in the next 4 years.
He will send 4 men into my life that will make the success of my vision
their primary assignment.
This is the same word I am giving to you today. As long as you believe
in the word I preach to you, God will do this same thing in your life.
God is sending 4 men (or women) , one for each year into your life, whose
major assignment will be to see the fulfillment of your dreams.
This is what these 4 men did in the life of this sick man. Other people
might have given up in the face of the huge crowd but not these men. They
had a divine assignment and they just had to perform it. I believe these
men were successes because they didn’t give up. A great man once
said ”Great people start their successes where others quit.”
Aquila and Priscilla performed a similar role in the life of Apollos.
They were forced to depart from Rome because of a decree from Claudius
but I believe that God divinely wanted them to come in contact with Apollos
so that they could help mold this great.
Teacher and Evangelist for the Lord (Acts 18:24-28)
Finally, you too might be required by God to perform such a role in the
life of someone else, so WATCH OUT!
Remember, every time you cry to God in prayer, he draws the answer closer
to you. He draws somebody closer who has the answer in his hands, so do
your own part, present your requests to God in prayer and leave the rest
to him.
